I'd like to be able to detect how many of a certain SKU is in the order and then apply that many packages.

Not sure you've seen but we do have a recommended packaging feature where we look at the dimensions of the skus in the order and then select the package that best fits these items. This may achieve what you are after - even easier! Let me know if you have any feedback

ability to assign multiple packages in one order based on Item SKU. e.g. order contains an umbrella and tv to be shipped in the same order but in 2 different sized packages. currently only able to auto assign one of those packages and user has to manually correct.
